How to Boil and Peel Quail Eggs

Quail eggs boil quickly, but peeling them is much easier when you use a simple routine and do not rush the cooling step.

What you need

  • Quail eggs
  • A pot of water
  • A bowl of ice water
  • A slotted spoon

How to boil them

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil.
  2. Lower the quail eggs in gently.
  3. Boil for about 4 minutes for a firm yolk.
  4. Move them immediately into ice water.
  5. Let them cool fully before peeling.

How to peel them more easily

  1. Tap the shell lightly all over.
  2. Roll the egg gently to loosen the shell.
  3. Start peeling from the wider end where the air pocket usually sits.
  4. If a shell sticks, dip the egg in water and keep going slowly.

Boiled quail eggs are easy to use for snacks, salads, charcuterie boards, lunch prep, and pickling. If you want more ideas, browse our recipes or shop the farm-to-table collection.
