Coturnix Quail Hatch Timeline (Day 0 to 3 Weeks Old)

If you are hatching coturnix quail, the first three weeks move quickly. A simple timeline makes it easier to prepare for each stage instead of guessing your way through it.

Day 0 to hatch

Keep your incubator stable, avoid unnecessary opening during hatch, and let chicks dry fully before moving them. A calm, steady setup usually matters more than chasing perfection.

First 72 hours

  • Move chicks to a warm brooder once they are dry and active.
  • Use safe waterers and easy-to-access starter feed.
  • Watch for piling, chilling, or signs the brooder is too hot.

Week 1

This is the most delicate stage. Keep the brooder clean, dry, and steady. Fresh feed, clean water, and a secure setup matter more than anything fancy.

Week 2

Chicks grow fast. They need more space, continued warmth, and regular observation. By this point you should be seeing stronger movement, steady eating, and more confidence in the brooder.

Week 3

Feathering improves quickly, and the birds start looking much less fragile. This is the stage where many buyers begin planning the move toward grow-out pens and the next phase of flock management.
